THE STORY BEHIND CAMP OTTER ISR

Mr. Cam's Journey

Who is Mr. Cam?

This is the closest I’ll ever come to being a superhero.

The moment when I first get my hands off a baby learning to float. Knowing I'm teaching a skill I hope is never used out of necessity. Knowing that I may have just helped a child save their own life. That's it. That's the closest I'll get to being a superhero.

Mr. Cam has worked with children in a wide variety of capacities since 1997. A few years ago the Senior Master ISR Instructor in Gainesville, FL was a parent of one of Mr. Cam's PE students. She asked him to come watch a few lessons. Mr. Cam had no clue what ISR was about, but was intrigued. He watched two lessons and said "I'm in" without knowing what it took to become an instructor or what it paid. He has been a certified instructor since 2017.

With years of experience working with infants and toddlers, Mr. Cam blends technical precision with a nurturing touch. His approach at Camp Otter focuses on building a foundation of trust before introducing the life-saving skills of the ISR Self-Rescue® program, creating a safe space for growth and mastery.

Every lesson is a step toward a safer future. Mr. Cam believes that aquatic safety is a lifelong journey, and his passion lies in empowering parents and children together. Through personalized instruction and unwavering support, he helps families navigate the water with confidence and peace of mind.
