What is ISR?
ISR’s unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only your child and the Instructor in the water. What your child will learn, and the way he or she will learn it, is what makes ISR so different from traditional swimming lessons. Always putting safety first, ISR emphasizes competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water.
Why is it important?
Drowning is the leading cause of death in children ages one to four. Every ISR instructor hopes the skills they teach are never used out of necessity. Especially in Florida where pools and open bodies of water are aplenty, accidents happen. These skills are a PART of a strategy to keep children safe.
What are the age requirements?
We welcome children starting as young as 6 months to 6 years (and older if needed). Youth with special needs can be taught at any age. Each lesson is tailored to the child's developmental level and physical abilities.
Babies six months old and above - "floaters" - are taught to turn to float and stay in the floating position until help arrives. Once little ones are a year old AND walking independently - "swimmers" - they are eligible to learn the swim-float-swim sequence. These students learn to generate an underwater swim movement, turn and float to get air, and repeat this sequence until safety is reached. The stable float is always there as an option if reaching safety is not an option.
What is the time commitment?
Lessons are scheduled 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. This consistency ensures to be the most effective way for young children to retain safety skills. "Floaters" have a target of four to six weeks. "Swimmers" have a target six to eight weeks. Session duration may be more or less depending on the abilities of the students and the continuity of appearance at lessons.
Why lessons with Mr. Cam?
With over 30 years of experience working with children and nearly a decade in the water, Cam has taught infant swim lessons since 2017. Certified ISR instructors undergo rigorous training and maintain yearly re-certification. Mr. Cam provides a safe, focused environment where every child receives the attention they need to succeed.
Where are you located?
Lessons are in a screened, heated pool on SW 15th Ave. in Jonesville, about five minutes from the Publix.
How much does it cost?
Registration is $105 paid directly to ISR during online registration (Annual update of $40). Lesson fees are $95 per week, with a $5 per week cash discount offered.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
If a lesson is not able to be offered (pool issues, Mr. Cam can't make it, he even takes the blame for bad weather) then you are credited a lesson and pay less the following week.
If the lesson is missed because of something on the family's end (illness, vacation, flat tire, donwannago), Mr. Cam's time is still obligated to the family and there is no way for him to fill your child's spot for a day or even a week. So you still pay for those spots.
